This album is a collection of 14 songs by various artists, written and/or arranged by Sally DeFord. Vocalists include Allyse Smith Taylor, James Loynes, Heather Prusse, Leilani Toloa Johnson, Jacosa Limutau, Tj Pini, and Sarah Crowther. Instrumentalists include Anne Lauritzen, Sarah Crowther, April Moriarty, Marvin Goldstein and Ramona McConkie. Sheet music for these selections can be downloaded free from my website. Two of the selections were arranged by Marvin Goldstein, and the sheet music for these can be purchased from Allyse Smith Taylor's site. Some of these songs speak for themselves, telling their own stories through the lyrics, like "This is How I Know" and "He is My All." Some have a bit of detail behind them that doesn't show on the surface: "Prayer is the Soul's Sincere Desire" uses words by James Montgomery, but using a new melody in place of the traditional one. I often grinned a bit singing this hymn because it places the emphasis in the music on all the wrong syllables of the lyrics. The words are such beautiful poetry, they just begged for a newer setting. "It Was for Me" is the first serious inspirational song I attempted, all those years ago--the beginning of a long list of such songs. "For Me Alone" is a candidate when people ask me, "Which song that *you* have written do you like best?" That's mostly because I so often need to be reminded of how important each one of us is to our Savior. I think the best part about a collection like this is listening to voices that belong to people I love so much. They're talented, they're amazing.. but best of all, they're friends.
