Novas Trio is Carlos Vera on Vibraphone, Jeff Miles on Guitar and Rodrigo Recabarren on Drums. “Borderfall” is their debut album, recorded in February 2012 @Mitgthy Toad Studios in Brooklyn, NY by Craig Dreyer, mixed by Alejandro Sánchez and mastered by Mike Perez-Cisneros. All artwork for “Borderfall” was ilustrated by Francisca Meneses (www.frannerd.cl). “Borderfall” was released in January 2013 under the intependent record label ”Discos Pendiente”.(www.discospendiente.com) About the band. Jeff Miles, Guitar: Originally from San Diego, California, Jeff is quickly becoming one of the most in-demand musicians on the New York music scene. He began studying classical piano at the age of six and picked up the guitar at twelve. In 2004 he moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music where he was a part of the Berklee Monterey Quartet and then won the 2008 Montreaux Jazz guitar competition. Jeff has performed with artists like Terry Lynn Carrington, Fabian Almazan, Logan Richardson, Roy Hargrove and John Benitez, in venues like the Monterey Jazz Festival, Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Blues Alley and Smalls jazz club in NYC, among many others. Carlos Vera, Vibraphone: Born in Santiago, Chile, Carlos has been deeply engaged in the language of Jazz as a vibraphonist and percussionist from a very young age.With the paramount guidance of his percussionist father, Carlos has developed to be one of the most prominent Chilean musicians of his generation.Carlos is a Fullbrigth scholar and holds a BA from the “Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile” and a Masters Degree from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, Germany. Carlos has performed in jazz festivals and clubs in cities like Sapporo, Munich, Stuttgart, Rotweiler, New York and Santiago among many others. Rodrigo Recabarren, Drums: Also a native of Santiago, Chile, Rodrigo is one of the most active and prolific Chilean drummers today. Since he moved to New York City to pursue a Masters Degree in Jazz performance at New York University, he has embarked on the search for a personal sound in his instrument. This search has lead Rodrigo to perform with such diverse artists like Wayne Krantz, Brad Shepik, Melissa Aldana, and Akira Ishiguro. In venues like the Blue Note, the 55 bar and Dizzy's CocaCola in New York City and Jazz festivals in Europe and Latin America.
