T.O.A.K, born in Providence, R.I., but raised in Baltimore, M.D., and now, residing in Atlanta, Ga., started his musical journey on July 1, 2012, all from what he calls a “blessing in disguise”.With a style that can’t really be pinpointed, T.O.A.K takes pride in being versatile with everything that he does, especially when it comes to his songwriting and clever lyrical ability, which is why similarities have been made with artists like Drake, J. Cole, and Wale. "Test Of A King" or T.O.A.K (Toke) for short, is an American born-Nigerian raised hip-hop artist/singer-songwriter from Baltimore, Md. With going on only four years under his belt of doing music, T.O.A.K has released two projects on DatPiff.com. His first solo project entitled, “Test Of A King: The Mixtape”(released October 16th, 2012) and second project, an EP entitled, “No Time Off” (released June 11th, 2013). Both projects displaying his strong lyrical ability and versatile songwriting skills at a level of someone you would not expect started their musical career a year prior. With songs like, “Mr. Right Now”, “Sex Games”, “Welcome to the Lion’s Den”, and “Angel”, T.O.A.K continues to open the eyes of his peers, those who hear his music for the first time, and music lovers alike. Performing live at least once a month since October 30th, 2012 in notable shows such as, Faded Fest 2013 in Pittsburgh, opening for former Bad Boy recording artist Ness in Baltimore, Md, and performing in the 2013 Coast 2 Coast Live: Pittsburgh Edition with special guest Crooked I.
