Towards the end of 2005, when the murder rate in Jamaica finally reached 1,650, a new record , I felt compelled to somehow through music, offer hope and inspiration to the people living under those incredibly stressful conditions in . I created an instrumental riddim and then invited some of my friends and colleagues from the NYC circuit to lend their voices to the riddim and address the situation in Jamaica in their own way. They all agreed and the 1650 album was born. The styles range from Gospel reggae to roots reggae to rap reggae. I thank all the artists who participated.
