The last few years, Marie-Claudine Vanvlemen and Richard van Kruysdijk (Signum, Dark Vinyl, Delsin, Paragoric, Atmosphere, Music for Speakers) have played various clubs and festivals, released several 12s, and at the same time worked on their full- time debut album: Soundeffects. On Soundeffects, we meet the more intimate, chilled-out side of Sonar Lodge. In between the quasibossa, loungy track The real thing and the weird cover of classic popballad We're all alone, influences can be heard of such diverse musical styles as 80's new wave, 70's avantgarde jazz and 60's cult-filmmusic, captured in a contemporary song-orientated framework and clearly rooted in soulful, funky leftfield dance music. It features various guestperformances; trumpet by Frans Friederich (known from the Dutch avant-garde jazz group DULL SCHICKSAL and his Re-cyclopedia project), bass by Jan van der Lest (FATSTAB, MAX 404), guitar by ZIYA and decks by AARDVARCK (known from his releases on DJAX, Signum, Delsin, Rushhour and Music for Speakers).
