简介
London producer Jurassik is one of the new wave of artists combining jungle, garage and breakbeat flavours into the rich matrix of roughneck riddim that is UK bass music in 2013. Named by Beatport as one of the iconic dance music sites producers to watch and featured in DJ magazine, this badman student of the dancehall has cooked up material on critically-acclaimed labels such as Menu Music and his own Supatronix Records. He now debuts with his first release on Deekline's own Hot Cakes imprint, a mighty four-track EP led by the brooding 21st century rave of Burning, a futuristic peaktime cut with grime, garage and jungle flavours cut through with a relentless bass groove and fearsome breakbeat rhythms. DJ Magazine immediately offered Ben a feature in their recent May issue upon hearing it, while Deekline himself said: Burning was the track that made me sign this one up to the label. I saw Ben drop it at our Hot Cakes night in Brixton and it tore the roof of the place! The track has also picked up love from the likes of Stanton Warriors, Slamboree Sound System and Se7en Deadly Breaks. Next up is Boomshakalak, a floor-filling slice of grimey bass music which throws in sampled breakbeats, sirens, snatches of ragga vocal and a killer drop that just screams carnival time. Much-hyped producer Dismantle, whose studio is adjacent to Jurassik's in the depths of South London, was straight through the door asking for a copy upon hearing it. We follow up with Fyah, which throws a lost acapella from the legendary Ragga Twins over kicks, claps and searing percussion to create another guaranteed future rave anthem. Finally, Hit Dat (Jurassik's 2014 VIP) sees the producer revisiting his 2010 club smash, adding strings, ragga vocal licks and searing fx for a bonafide dancefloor destroyer.
