简介
I started playing piano when I was two years old. My mother, who had been a piano teacher bought a used but very cool A. B. Chase piano and one day I sat down at started playing everything I could hear. The first song I remember playing was Downtown. Then the theme to Batman and Speed Racer. Seeing the I had some sort of gift, my Mom decided to bring in an outside teacher to get me to learn my theory and to start reading music. It was a futile attempt. So the teachers would give up, I'd give up and soon my parents gave up trying to get me to be something I wasn't. So I started playing everything I heard; the standards Bug Bunny use to sing on the Merry Melody cartoons, the pop and r&b tunes on the radio and TV, the classic standards from the Great American Songbook I would hear every Thursday night when my Mom would host her piano club. Being an actor and a singer as well, I was introduced to the great collection of songs that were hits from Broadway shows and movies, most notably, Woody Allen films. He would the best soundtracks which, depending on the period of the film, showcased the greatest songs of that era. No matter the period, they were all the classics from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I was born in San Francisco, as were my brothers, as well as my Mom and her brothers. Both sets of Grandparents lived right around the corner from each other in the Sunset District, so it made visits a breeze. I graduated college from San Francisco State. I received my Actor's Equity Association card and my first professional acting job in San Francisco. I also met and fell in love with my first partner, and we lived there together. So the city is vitally important, not only with regards to my past but my present and future as well. I am also a singer/songwriter and have recorded four albums of original songs, but I've never recorded a solo piano album and I felt it was about time. After my Mom passed away, I decided to put together a collection of songs she adored, played on the instrument that was so important to both of us, and recorded in the city that meant so much to her. This is the first in a series of solo piano albums. This first one is a collection of standards. The upcoming two are a collection of contemporary songs from artists such as Alicia Keyes, Nirvana, Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, Sting and Led Zepplin. A release date will follow soon.
