简介
Free Is Better has proved to be an ambitious group, and "Car Troubles" is the impressive result of that ambition. With their debut work, the band delivers a full length LP featuring 14 tracks of original, independently produced music. The band began working on the songs while living in Nashville to study the music industry at Belmont, but most of the tracks were recorded in a remote house on a farm a couple hours out from the city. The group locked themselves away from the rest of the world for a weekend to write together and capture the result on record. The album boasts an edgy classic sound that has clear influence rooted in some of the group's favorite rock legends like Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Foreigner, etc. Each member of the group brings a different style and influence to the table, and they're all featured as a lead element on some of the tracks. Songs such as "They Say" and "Over My Shoulder" feature a softer, lyrical sound with echoes of the music of the late 70s as Zachary Manno's leads soar overtop of the rhythm section. The album's closing track "Can't Be Bought," which features Levi Post's face melting vocals and guitar licks, couldn't possibly rock any harder. Justin Brown brings the album a bluesy influence with tracks like "Insane," while shredding the keys with extraordinary solos on the synth and organ. Ben Sewell's songwriting and vocal styles add a lot of contrast to the album with a sort of smoothness and inexplicable depth. All the while, the drums dynamic contribution and groove can not go unnoticed. Together, the four create tight arrangements that can quickly grow into fun, unpredictable jam sessions. Make no mistake, "Car Troubles" is only the beginning for Free Is Better. Audio Production by Zachary Manno and Levi Post Album Cover Photographed by Annie Pickle, edited by Justin Brown
