This is a project that has been a year in the making. It is the final product of two independent artists desire to have their music heard. This hook of this song was written in a time when I (Billy Mauldin) was just starting to gain some local attention and booking a lot of local gigs. At the time i was relatively new and didn't have a lot of material. I was so excited with my first phone call I didn't realize until after I hung up that I had just booked a three hour gig... I didn't have three hours worth of music. So that night I practiced feverishly trying to learn new songs. Hours and hours went by and I was exhausted. Like the song says my fingers felt like they ready to bleed and my voice had been long gone. I took a short break from the material I was learning and the words just came out. All the emotions I was feeling at that exact point in time I somehow fit on the page. I immediately sent a video to Gino who i was working on a different collaboration with at the time and I told him, "Forget that other song, this is the one we need to do." So he poured his heart and feelings into the song as well. We wanted it to be a little different than other rap/sung collaborations so we arranged the verses differently so we were kind of going back and forth sharing our own feelings about the struggles of following our dream. As for the song title again we didn't want to just name it whatever phrase was said most often, we wanted a symbol that represented it. In the second verse the lyrics talk about a little red bracelet. Which I have worn on my left wrist for two years now. I was never good at consistently wearing a bracelet or other jewelry so one day I kind of made it a challenge to myself. So I haven't taken it off in two years other than to take a picture of it or tie it back on. The bracelet represents our determination to accomplish a goal. Even when it looks a little rough sometimes we keep pushing on because music is something we love to do. And we wrote the song in a way that hopefully people can see the song as a metaphor for any trials they are going through. Gino and I are very proud of the way the song turned out and really enjoyed working together. Hopefully we will be able to continue making music.
