It is a place where those who take their craft seriously can work with peers equally devoted and passionate. --- Jim Walker www.jvamusic.com I was born in Los Angeles, where I performed with several bands before forming the schizophrenic pop group, Lost Anthony, which existed in the late 80’s. I had a nice bit of good luck when my friend, Phil Joanou (director - U2: RATTLE AND HUM, GRIDIRON GANG), asked me to write a song for his first feature film, Universal Picture’s THREE O’CLOCK HIGH. My song SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ME BY (produced by legendary session drummer/producer Rick Marotta) was featured throughout the film. Great flick too! I spent the next few years working with Rick Marotta writing songs and doing music for film and television. During this time we scored the films COVER GIRL MURDERS and DEAD AIR, plus episodes of HBO’S - TALES FROM THE CRYPT and Fox’s - DOWN THE SHORE. I also wrote the song, IN MY ARMS, for the creepy horror film, MIRROR MIRROR. After brief signings with RCA and Geffen Records, I moved to Portland, Oregon where I scored the film REDLINE, had songs featured in the films BREATHLESS, LURKERS, and FLOATER, and also had several songs placed in the daytime dramas, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, and GENERAL HOSPITAL. One of the first people I met here in Portland was the uber-talented musician Tim Ellis. We started working together as the mighty acoustic power-duo, Tim & Jim. We’ve played between 150-175 shows a year since 1994. I’ve spent a lot of time on stage with that gentleman. I’ve released over 20 cds of original music under the name JVA on my own independent label JVAMUSIC, including my latest ep, THE NIGHT OF THE ACCORDION MURDERS. VOL. 1 You can find that album, and all others here at CDBaby Tim and I also worked with violinist, Aaron Meyer, scoring the modern dance project ETHOS Tim and I have opened for Crash Test Dummies, Loverboy, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Little Feat, Karla Bonoff, Boz Scaggs, Warren Zevon and others.
