I created a performance piece, a song-cycle accompanied by large scale projected portraits, that springs directly from my love of storytelling and my passion for history. The purpose of this project is to turn our gaze away from imposed beauty standards and instead see women as powerful thinkers and doers. The accompanying album, "Portraits" features my original songs from the project and the CD includes thumbnails of the portraits that were created by Liz Downing.
