A BAND CALLED...TRIPWAVE! Cooked up in spring 2005 in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen... & after a monthly series of wyld and now legendary psychedelic parties at Giorgio Gomelsky’s loft, which have been honored by visits from the likes of Little Steven to Genesis P’Orridge of Psychic TV, TRIPWAVE marks the beginning of 2006 with the release of their debut self-titled CD/EP on Tripwave Records. They have also come to the attention of Jeffrey Blenkensopp, who produced the recent Secret Machines CD, and he is now happily busy creating furthur Tripwave recordings. Fronted by singer/guitarist/thereminist Dino Sorbello, here is all-original music informed by years of immersion in the classic and garage styles of the 60s & 70s as well as generous influence from psychedelia, space rock, and surf music. Jazz and progressive rock touches arise from the hands of drummer Joseph Chonto, and the modern day reality-check is brought to you by NYC scene veteran Danny Fastfingers on keyboards and sitar. Together they play a mix of very catchy popping tunes that might suddenly take a sharp left turn into free form sonic landscapes, no noise here either, this is pure sweet SOUND. This is music you can LISTEN to, not just PLAY on your iPod.
