简介
The Invocation formed in late 2009. Their music is conceptual and diverse yet maintains a level of continuity that expresses a clear and succinct message. The Invocation is comprised of five devoted followers of Christ and thus the themes of Christian spirituality are evident in their music. An important theme in their debut album Night & Day is emphasized in the quote read on the track titled "Vespers" which states, "You're transcendent but here with me. You're infinite but finite too. You're the comfort in my night and the light in my day." The main idea is that God is not only inescapable but also the source of all comfort and guidance, and that it is by trusting God that we can live a life of fullness. Although The Invocation is a band of people who collectively share a deep Christian faith, their music is essentially a commentary and expression of life from their standpoint. The Invocation's goal is not to make something exclusively for the Christian community but to make art that expresses who they are and what is important to them. All can enjoy The Invocation's music much like U2's music is enjoyed by all even though themes of Christian spirituality are heavily present in their music as well. Since The Invocation does have a strong faith many of their songs are about God. Some, however, aren't and that's okay.
