EDM Tracks 15: The New Vanguard - INsite Atlanta Magazine By Blue Sullivan LYFGRDS & Sam Brodsky – “The American Dream” Here’s something hot off the presses for you by a fantastic new LA-based deep house/electro-pop hybrid which just might point the way out of the last 3 years of electro-stagnation. Beginning with cheekily-polar audio samples by Obama and a 50s PSA teaching school kids how to survive a nuclear blast (hint: apparently they were way more optimistic about the protective powers of picnic blankets back then), the track launches into nearly five fat-free, whip-smart minutes of good old fashioned soul-pop given a glistening dance floor spit-shine. Imagine “Flat Eric” cross-bred with Crystal Method’s “Keep Hope Alive” with a perfectly-utilized vocal that could pass for London Grammar, and you have something that a maniacally tuned-in Jacques Lu Cont could dream up. And as regular readers of this column know, that is a compliment on the order of “you know, if he just grew his beard out a little and conjured up some wine, he could maybe be the next messiah”. LYFGRDS bio: In early 2015, Jamieson Hill and long time friend Charan Andreas began producing and DJing under the name LYFGRDS. Their group has become highly sought a3er for Celebrity par6es and high-end events, since spinning for A-listers such as, John Legend, The Winklevoss Twins, Travis Barker, Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Fox, Paris Latsis, & Leonardo Di Caprio to name a few. As well as top events for Stella Artois, Top Shop, Interview Magazine, The Box London & Guess, among others. LYFGRDS were most recently chosen by U2’s team to play for, as Page Six put it, their “Starry Bash”, after the bands KROQ show at The Roxy. Celebrities such as Courtney Love, Jack Nicholson, Sean Penn, Danny Devito, The Edge, Bono, Aaron Paul, Derek Huff, Collin Farrell, Kate Hudson and Shawn Lennon were all seen getting down on the dance floor and praising the duo for their master selection skills. They have recently released the song "Lean On A Black Unicorn” (click to listen), which is a mashup of Major Lazer & DJ Snake's "Lean On" vs. LYFGRDS original unreleased song "Black Unicorn" Feat. Melody Thorton (Formally of the girl group "The PussyCat Dolls”) Jamieson Hill is one of the most sought-after DJ’s and music producers from New York City. He’s known for his dynamic stage presence and innate ability to blend decades of music into his four on the floor DJ sets, bringing all age groups to the dance floor. Mr. Hill gets flown to major ci6es including Tokyo, London, Munich, Barcelona, Los Angeles, and Miami, where he engulfs the crowd in his passion for music. Ford Models discovered Jamieson when he was 16, and he spent the next two years on the runway and nightclubs in NYC, Milan and Seoul. He modeled for high fashion designers such as Gucci, Neil Barrett and ETRO. At 22, Jamieson’s remix of Justice and Daft Punk hit #1 on Hype Machine’s Popular chart. Soon after, he was hired as a resident DJ in Japan, and plays at Tokyo’s F Bar and Vanity night clubs. Charan Andreas is an actor, fashion model & DJ. One of his biggest ad campaigns was for Juicy Couture, which had billboards worldwide from Tokyo to Times Square. He has been featured in Elle with Gwen Stefani, Vogue Italia, American Vogue, W, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Teen Vogue, Maxim Italia, Kult, Qvest among others. He has been photographed by the likes of Steven Meisel, Yu Tsai, Tim Walker, Carter Smith among many others, and interviewed by Patrick Ecclesine in the book "Faces of Sunset Boulevard”. Alongside his career in entertainment, Charan has also DJed at clubs in Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok, Hong Kong & Los Angeles under the name "DJ Pikachu”.
