Marx and the Yogis’ debut album uses heavy keys, strong female vocals, spacey guitar solos, violin/accordion duets and groovy beats to move through complex rock compositions. Their music, essentially alternative rock, combines world influences ranging from gypsy melodies to French waltzes.

The Minneapolis band started as a Latin rock band led by Gerardo Vargas (bass, vocals) with Ryland Nelson (guitar) and Erica Bisbey (vocals, keys). Adding Jeremy Aaron (drums) and Racheal Marron (violin), the band took the name Marx and the Yogis and began playing Bisbey’s compositions. Jason Schrieber played steel plan and accordion on the album but is no longer a member.

Keep the Sunrise Coming is a beautiful album combining inspired songwriting with brilliant musicianship. Marx and the Yogis continues to develop their sound, delving into their Latin roots and daringly moving forward into a global era of songwriting.
