Mickey Dee was born Michael Barr on June 24,1990 in Portland, Oregon. As a child, Mickey was known for having a wide range of talents, which included drawing, singing, songwriting, and acting. Finding a microphone in his dad\'s office and using the computer when he was 12, he began learning to mix and record his own material. He started rapping over his own original beats and melodies that he made using a combination of live and synthesized instruments. After hearing him rap in the hallways at lunchtime, his classmates at Cleveland High School encouraged him to record an album. In 2007, Mickey released his first LP called “The BarrCode” on his own record label, \"UnBranded Records”. Mickey produced, recorded, mixed, performed and designed the artwork for “The BarrCode”. The album features appearances by his friends The Plot, Young Roi, and Karess---who later came together with Mickey to form hip hop group, The Verbal Felonz. Documenting his new journey into the world of hip hop, Mickey filmed, directed and edited his own documentary, called \"Rhythm and Rhyme\", focusing on the things he had learned and accomplished while making songs. From there, Mickey went on to produce, mix, and record The Verbal Felonz’ first album \"WordPlay\", which became an instant hit at his highschool. Since then, Mickey\'s songs have been played on the radio, his high school prom, and in local Portland clubs. Mickey\'s most recent projects are his two upcoming albums which will be released within only a few months of one another. One album will feature the song \"Switch It Up\"---a politically driven attempt to sway voters in the upcoming presidential election. The music video of “Switch It Up” is directed by Portland filmmaker Rebecca Rodriguez.
