The Bacchanalia, orgies in honor of Dionysus, were introduced in Rome around 200 BCE. These infamous celebrations, notorious for their sexual and criminal character, got so out of hand that they were forbidden by the Roman Senate in 186 BCE. Along with Tampa's own exceptional and funky drummer, Bill Peterson. Bill, with his driving rythm, Eric, with his soaring lead guitar and Charlie with his expressive Bass, went into the recording studio, where they made thier own brand of music! After releasing 3 singles, BACCHUS was the opening act on concerts featuring GRAND FUNK RAILROAD, FREE, LYNNRD SKYNNRD, BB KING, CACTUS, The OUTLAWS, REDBONE, EDGAR WINTER, and TED NUGENT. BACCHUS became a three piece power trio to be reckoned with and were soon asked to open a concert with MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA.
