简介
Having worked the Austin music scene with various bands and projects for the past 10 years, Singer/Songwriter/Accordionista Amanda Kitchens is finally stepping into her own element for this rare taste. Having had her musical influences steep in years of study of music from the Balkans and Italy, she has emerged with a flavor that sings reminiscent of a 1940's cabaret of Romany jazz nouveau and vaudeville spirituals from her own Southern upbringing. Being a lover of dance, Kitchens encourages dancers of all backgrounds and experience to step out and cut a rug. She recently made her debut as a Musical Director and Composer with the Austin smash hit, Cosmicomics, an adaptation of Italo Calvino's work by Rudy Ramirez and Sky Candy. Amanda was also one of the musicians performing the score live alongside violinist Ian Stewart and multi-instrumentalist and thespian Chris Humphrey. She couldn't have asked for a more wonderful cast, crew, or production to have made this journey with and feels eternally blessed. 'From the very beginning, one feels transported to a far away land with the perfectly-paired accompaniment of music director/composer Amanda Kitchens. This musical collaboration won me over from the very beginning and set a magical atmosphere that transformed the space with a free-spirited, European-fringe fest vibe. Ms. Kitchen's voice is lush and warm, and she has the visceral presence of French legend, Edith Piaf.' -Michelle Hache, Broadway World Though her musical interests are broad and her style vastly European in flavor, she is a Texas gal born and raised. This collection of songs spans over her 10 years as a songwriter and delivers Balkan to Bluegrass, from Gospel to Gut-wrenching, and a little bit of everything in between.
