简介
The Mississippi Sheiks Walter Vinson, Bo Carter, Sam and Lonnie Chatmon played what became known as "string band" music in the late 1920's. The Sheiks started their recording career in 1930 and soon were the most celebrated string band of their time. The Mississippi Sheiks name was inspired by a poplar film "The Sheik" released in 1921 starring Rudy Valentino. They wrote simple songs about running from the law, heartbreak, moonshine, gambling and hard times woven together with strong haunting melodies. It was heartfelt country style blues backed by only an acoustic guitar and fiddle.
