简介
When you combine the descriptive storytelling of Nas with the witty punch lines of Common, and a laidback, but powerful delivery, the result is a critically acclaimed Chicago rapper named Jelani Lateef. Speaking from a street level, but with a consciousness that can be appreciated by adults who feel that rap music isn't positive, Jelani has over 10 years invested in the music business. Also know as J Fury, Jelani tested the waters with his independent release entitled "This Is", which generated a strong street buzz. The attention garnered many collaboration requests and side projects. His guest appearance on Nice and Smooth recording artist Roy Davis Jr.'s album "Water For Thirsty Children" (released in March 2004) has grabbed attention on the Canadian and European music scene, having received rave reviews in various European publications. In April 2005, their collaboration, titled "The Way We Were" was released as a single. He next recorded and scored music for the independent film "Severed Ties", which was released in August 2005. Other guest appearances Jelani has made include Red Sea Entertainment recording artist Columbo's album "Behind Bars", Sin-City's solo album "Pentality of the Soul", and Envious Entertainment's compilation CD Hardlife Muzic Vol. 1. In May 2005, he completed a joint effort with Sin-City entitled Deucez Wild, and he recently wrapped a collaboration with Joe (Omega Red) Tyse titled "Directions". Having experienced both the ups and downs of the music business, and with a tremendous amount of music in the vault, Jelani Lateef is preparing to launch a full scale assault on the streets. With a series of solo mix-tapes and a LP on the way, this year promises to be his most successful year to date.
