\"Tuscaloosa\" is Alyson Greenfield\'s first full-length release. The album was produced by Alyson Greenfield, recorded by both Alyson Greenfield and Densie Barbarita (Mary J. Blige, David Byrne, Herbie Hancock, The Roots), and features Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) on bass. Alyson Greenfield is quickly garnering recognition from music publications, radio podcasts, and TV networks. She was named a Semi-Finalist in the 2008 Paste Magazine Rock N Reel At Sea Contest, her \"Six Songs\" EP was awarded 3rd Place at the Women\'s Radio Review Awards 2007 in the Classical/Contemporary Category, and her music has been heard on national and international radio podcasts ranging from Rubyfruit Radio (listed in the SPIN Magazine Essential Mix) to Babes in Boyland, based in Montpellier, France. After winning in the Solo Category of Fox\'s My Network TV Band Call Out, Alyson licensed four of the six songs on her \"Six Songs\" EP to the network. Her songs have been heard in the television programs \"Wicked, Wicked Games\" (starring Tatum O\' Neal) and \"Saints and Sinners.\" Alyson has played in national and international venues. In August 2007 Alyson returned from Mali, West Africa where she studied guitar with Sinaly Papus Diabate and sat in on keyboards with the Super Djata Band at Bamako\'s music hotspot, Foyer De L\'air. Alyson has played at music festivals such as Estrojam in Chicago, EarthFusion in Minneapolis, and Comfest and Ladyfest, both in Columbus, OH. She has played venues such as the Rockwood Music Hall in New York City to the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa, AL, and many locations in between such as Birmingham, AL; Nashville, TN; Asheville, NC; Richmond, VA; Boston, MA; Rochester, NY; and more. Alyson received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing in May 2008. Her writing can be found in such magazines as Sinister Compendium, Mêlée, Blaze Vox, and 27 Rue de Fleurs. Additional credits include co-writing the screenplay for Sitting on Fire, a short film based on Alyson\'s original short story, which was selected to show in several national film festivals-- among them the 2004 California Independent Film Festival and the 2003 Philadelphia Documentary and Fiction Festival, where it won Special Prize for Best Short Film. She has most recently been seen on screen acting in Splitpillow\'s The Alpha Project, Thomas Lisa\'s \"White Hot Dork Funk\" music video, ZWAN\'s music video, \"Lyric,\" and her own music videos for \"Good Looks,\" \"Homewrecker,\" and \"Oh Gwen.\" A former Board Member of the Chicago National Organization for Women, high school teacher, university instructor, and Tolerance Educator, Alyson seeks to promote ideas of understanding through her music. As well as playing at theaters, bars, and coffee shops, she prizes her performances at tolerant-conscious festivals and events such as Estrojam, Ladyfest, Comfest, and EarthFusion.
