The Music ... This Music is considered Jazz Fusion for the most part. We as a group perform original and what we call " Movie Music" Music that we so often hear on film scores. Our musical influences are vast and deep from Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Bill Evans, The Brecker Brothers,all the way to Bach, Stravinsky, Bartok and Debussy. The musicians on this recording are: John Johnson-saxophones, Matt Horner- keys, Pat Kilbride-bass. This group has played together for many years and has a very special bond. There is a telepathic process which occurs between us much like that legendary Coltrane quartet or Chick Corea's Electric Band or any of the Miles Davis groups. When 5 after 4 is not playing together these musicians have worked with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, David Sanborn, and on some earlier recordings we have had guests and friends such as: Scott Henderson, Toots Thielemans, Richard Bona, Joey DeFrancesco, Michael Brecker, Vinnie Colaiuta, and even the Bradislava Radio Orchestra. We have opened for: Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, The Yellow Jackets, Joe Henderson, to name a couple and worked with Larry Carlton in 2016 as well as Guthrie Govan in 2009 and 2014.
