Elyce…Bio Information The “buzz” that will soon become a roar started earlier in 2005 on the internet for dark hair, hazel eyed for breaking teenage Christian rocker, Elyce, whose debut album "Who I Am" hasn't even been commercially released. The Columbia, Illinois native has not only stirred the grassroots in cyberspace with her high profile MySpace presence attracting thousands of downloads from thousands of friends, but her first effort at serious recording has attracted a following in the high ranks of Nashville’s music community. The album was produced by Ainslie Grosser who has engineered and produced scores of major name contemporary Christian artists—including Rebecca St. James. Finished project in hand, Elyce is serious about building a professional career team as meetings with labels and management unfold and summer ’06 moves her closer to the official launch of music and artist. At 18, Elyce is an alumnus of Festival Con Dios where a talent competition held at the high profile event during her freshman year of high school found her scoring high marks with the Rachel Lampa song, Blessed. The appearance encouraged her to book studio time at Jupiter Studios in nearby St. Louis to record in preparation for her presentation in Colorado at GMA’s prestigious Music In the Rockies—where she performed for the heavily stacked industry audience during her sophomore year. The professional exposure and experience of participating in Music In The Rockies convinced the beautiful young fledgling and her family that Elyce should pursue a career in music in earnest. In preparation for the journey, Elyce performed regularly at Kingdom Treasures, a locally based Christian bookstore with a ‘Solid Rock Café’ format that gave her a tremendous experimental live performance platform for her music and vocal styling. She gradually refined her strengths and moved her emphasis from early AC sounds to a more adult definition of rock. Often compared vocally to Avril Lavigne, Elyce soon carved her own unique identity with her music, began dabbling with piano and guitar, and nurtured her own flow of self-written lyrics and music. The result can be found within the ten tracks of Who I Am, which she finished recording with an A-team of Christian industry professionals in Franklin, Tennessee studios. With plans still in the future to move to Nashville, Elyce currently makes her home with her parents, younger brother Nathan (13), and her beloved chihuahua, Diego. Her dad, Jim, handles the day-to-day pulse on her growing career. Elyce is fueled by a passion to reach her generation of God through her music. “I grew up in a Christian family, surrounded by music, but it was awkward for me to witness to people—I’m somewhat shy,” notes the young singer. “Just to see God using me—seeing people’s faces when I perform and knowing God is using my music to reach them—it’s tremendously exciting to me.” And exciting for world of Contemporary Christian Music that will soon feel the influence of Elyce.
