“Until You” is a jazz crossover album like no other. Created while going through a heart wrenching divorce, Kat pays homage to the late great emotional balladeer Eva Cassidy with new arrangements of songs like "Autumn Leaves", "Landslide" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", as well as taking on songs from the past few years, like Maroon 5's "My Heart is Open" and a new dramatic piano version of Sia's “Chandelier" that would make Tori Amos proud. Not to be confined by an era, Kat bravely tackles the likes of Elvis’ heartbreaking classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love“, a trip-hop version of "Nature Boy", and even throws in a sexy syrupy arrangement of “Stray Cat Strut.” To round off the album are a few stand out originals like the haunting “Breath Me In”, "Bubble", and the title track "Until You" – all written for the award-winning film “The Big Swim” that Kat also directed. Kat directs her own music videos. "I have an affinity for music videos of the original MTV era and feel they are an awesome way of expressing the song in another creative medium. It's a chance for me to combine my love of music and film within an open unbridled platform. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to tell a story or create an abstract piece of art and collaborate with more amazingly talented people. In the case of the "Nature Boy" video, it's a little of both - story and art. For an artist, creating music videos is the ultimate fulfillment, like the icing on the cake only it's that yummy dark chocolate frosting inside the middle of the cake - rich and satisfying." Full of uniquely arranged standards and originals, “Until You,” is mixed by BAFTA-nominated engineer John Rodd (“Breaking Bad,” “Call of Duty: Black Ops II”) and mastered by Grammy-winning music veteran Gavin Lurssen (Alison Kraus, Robert Plant, Sheryl Crow, T-Bone Burnett), the album features an all-star cast, including players from the esteemed Brian Setzer Orchestra among many other top-notch musicians and producers.
