Ethan’s melodies are steeped in pastoral acoustic aesthetics, topped with bright layers of alt-pop counterpoint. His lyrics are embedded with rich, vibrant imagery, intricate rhyming and wordplay, and a quirky sense of humour. Produced by Lorrie Matheson at his Arch Audio studio in Calgary, Hazlewood Pines features a stellar lineup of collaborators - from the soaring violin of Laura Reid to the sublime drumming of Chris Dadge. Acoustic guitar provides the foundation for sparkling flourishes of lead guitar, dexterously provided by Lawrence Nasen and James Dangerous.
