简介
Hes first solo album, Aguaribay, had a majority of compositions of others, including popular classic argentine songs. In this context, highlighting their creations. Now, with a record of their own songs based on undeniable originality, Cecilia Zabala leaps forward and stands as an important voice for the new song Argentina. Aguaribay was basically a folk album, with some tango and some songs free in form. The treatment of unrelated subjects was novel and, above all things, was the disk of a eximia guitarist, who also sang very well and had composed some beautiful songs. Today, we find that the proportion own-issues extraneous issues was reversed: about 13 tracks, 10 are signed Cecilia. There are only two instrumental tracks throughout the disc and you could argue that is a disc of songs by a great songwriter and singer who also plays guitar very well ... There is no doubt that this is a complete artist, reinforcing their strengths, not afraid by all means express your voice and also encouraged to play with letters. Yet opens with the song of that name, and continues with five more songs than Cecilia, all of uncommon beauty. In the second half of the disc are songs of others, including an original version of the Ode to Divorce by Regina Spektor, in English, and a song discovered by Cecilia, the dragonfly, the Mexican David Aguilar, in which he sings at times in unison with the vocalist Vicky Zocalis (of Zo'loka? trio). Where lies the originality of the music Zabala? She worries, play hard to beat, avoids the more practically used as the 4 / 4 or 3 / 4 and wanders amalgam or composite bars, those that are not easily or dance to ordinary mortals accompany with the tiny foot hill, so playful harmonies also eludes most visited, but, above all things, has emerged as a notable melody. This combination of happy melodies with complex rhythms and harmonies reminiscent of several illustrious authors of these plains. But why rely on them? All artists have parents and grandparents, no one starts their way from scratch. In the case of Cecilia, the work that departs from folklore (but not root) and delves into the world of the track, collecting a personal style that can develop because it has a surprising ease to sing in a record very large (very clear in the treble voice of a little more opaque in the serious, but always expressive and extremely subtle). About her ability as an instrumentalist and everything has been said above. The recording, by Osqui Amante, is natural and allows the different guests (almost no percussion) contribute their lines clearly. The mix leaves something to voice out, and that is appreciated. A job that does not seem to leave nothing outstanding, but you never know. A close listen, another color, then another, new colors are revealed and then the next and the next ...
