Herrera Music Corporation is proud to announce the release of its exciting new album, Simplemente Ixya: Ixya Herrera, featuring the fresh, powerful voice of Ixya Herrera. The CD includes only Mexican songs, it is neither a ranchera nor a mariachi recording. It includes selections taken from several Mexican genres: son jarocho, son de mariachi, canción ranchera, huapango, and canción clásica mexicana. Ixya Herrera's mastery of vocal technique produces a range, power, and purity of tone that allows her to handle every genre with amazing ease and authenticity, her voice tailored to satisfy every requirement of the various styles in which she sings. I want to thank my father, Fermín Herrera, in a very special way for having provided the inspiration and general direction for this project. I also thank him for the arrangement and beautiful lyrics of “Xochicuicatl.” I want to acknowledge my brother, Xocoytozin, who shared his extensive knowledge of Mexican music and was co-producer of this CD.
