The name Matatu comes from the Swahili word for the minivans and buses used in East Africa as common public transportation. The experience of riding in a matatu is a memorable one. The vans are typically designed to seat 12 persons but they tend to cram in as many people, animals, and baggage as can fit. That's why we like to say "There's always room for one more in a Matatu!" This EP is a stripped-down, simplistic introduction to a band that promises to do great things. The songs are at once catchy, feel-good, and upbeat with subtle harmonies and thoughtful lyrics. You won't be able to stop yourself from humming along, bobbing your head to the beat of the djembe, and getting lost in this disc. You will be hearing much more from Matatu in the future, I am sure!
