简介
Whether it’s at a Broadway musical, open mic night at the comedy club, or from a couch watching the National Geographic Channel, chances are high that a band member from the alternative rock band, Decatur has crossed your path. Inspired by the works of Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons and Alt-J, this five piece Denver-based super group balances their fresh and original take on the alternative rock world, with an intricacy and experience that separates them from others in their scene. Decatur will be releasing their first EP, self-titled “Decatur” in May 2017, to be available for streaming at www.decaturrock.com/music, SoundCloud and Bandcamp. (Soon-to-be available on Apple Music and Spotify.) The group will co-host an album launch party on Friday, June 9, 2017 at The Walnut Room in Denver, Colo. with nationally touring band Before the Bulb. Decatur’s sound consists of unique and slithering guitar rock, featuring atmospheric and musical instrumentation and synths that orbit the magnetic and brooding voice of front man Sean DeCrescenzo. The final product, produced by Emmy® and multiple award-winning producer Lance Bendiksen, is a multi-media sculpture that is dark yet effervescent and raucous in its composure. “It’s like having a young Eagles in-house, but with a contemporary and much edgier rock feel,” said Bendiksen. “Musical and real, both the show and recordings are seamless while never losing the band’s heart and soul. This is a musical ride you’ll want to jump on.” Brian Malouf, famed mixing engineer and producer, also worked with the group to finalize the album. Malouf’s resume includes Michael Jackson, Madonna, Pearl Jam, Pink, Queen and Stevie Wonder. Decatur’s members include Quinn Cox (lead studio engineer, backing vocals, guitar, keys), Sean DeCrescenzo (front man, guitar), Tay Hamilton (lead guitar, backing vocals), Chris Howard (drums, backing vocals) and Chris Rybitski (second chair bass, current bass player). Sam Oatts is the band’s original bass player and is currently the lead trumpet on the Broadway tour of “American in Paris.” Other notable collaborations featured on “Decatur” include Bill Pain (Doobie Brothers, Little Feat) on the Hammond B3 organ and piano and John Magnie (The Subdudes) on the Hammond B3 organ. The band’s lead engineer and band member, Quinn Cox, is also an old pro in the licensing world. His works have been featured by A&E Network, DIY Network, Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, National Geographic Channel and Nick Jr. “Under Lance’s guidance, we were given the opportunity to make something great...and we did,” said Quinn. “We are an unlikely combination of musicians that have not only become close friends but also come to the table with an outstanding team and a plan to conquer the alternative rock scene.” Members have performed across the United States and Mexico at venues including the House of Blues Chicago (opening for All Time Low), The Walnut Room , the top of Red Rocks Amphitheater and VANS Warped Tour. Tay Hamilton says the weirdest gig he’s ever played was, “at a nudist colony.” Needless to say, the guys have an eclectic mix of performances on their roster.
