J. Anton Boykin affectionately called the “Sax Sensation “executes his God given musical talents on the Soprano, Alto and Tenor Saxophones. J. has been mastering the craft since he was 10. Early inspirations include; Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Roland Kurt, Kirk Whalum, David Sanborn and Gerald Albright. J's talents have taken him as far as China, performing locally in his hometown of Riverside, California and many Cities in between. His appearances include; Ministering at Various Churches throughout California Band and Solo artists at “Jammin’ For Jesus” Festival 2004,2005,2006 Opening for Grammy Award winner Shirley Caesar Guest at the Pasadena Jazz festival (unofficial) Guest artist at the opening for the National NAACP Convention Presenting his rendition of “The Negro National Anthem” at numerous Black History events Performing his rendition of the National Anthem at W.R.C.O.G. Annual Convention Riverside AIDS Walk 2005 Forbes 500 Company Parties J's accolades include: 2005 Recipient of ABCW “Youth Image” Award Gold Medalist Riverside NAACP-ACTSO 2005, 2006 Regional winner of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Talent Awards Winner Riverside Black History Association Talent Show 2004 & 2005, Member of The Inland Empire Jazz and Artist Exchange Co-founder of the Gospel group “This Side of Heaven” J's debut album, “My Name Is J” will soon be released and is an eclectic mix of Gospel Music, Smooth Jazz, Latin and R & B.
