Glenn Burris is a Chicago based saxophonist who studied alongside of his contemporary, Steve Coleman. with alto sax innovator/educator Bunky Green. Burris is co-composer of the tune "Shout" on the Miles Davis 1981 comeback album, "The Man With The Horn" and played in integral role in the return of Davis after his long hiatus. Burris is featured as the street saxophonist on the recent Lupe Fiasco video, "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)." With the release of "Thrill Is Gone" Burris acknowledges blues as the root of jazz with a BB King classic featuring Little Rock Arkansas born dynamic rap duo Jamaar Johnson and Justin Phillips of Understyle. The project track is produced by Robert Irving III who did the same for five Grammy Award nominated projects for Miles Davis, Terri Lyne Carrington and others. The support musicians span three generations including elder percussionist, Woody Slaughter, drummer Kahari Parker (George Benson), guitarist Bob Davis (Nile Rogers), recent Blues Hall of Fame inductee, bassist, Felton Crews and keyboardist, Greg Spero (Halsey).
