简介
Scotty Hills got his start touring as a drummer for Canadian blues bands, like Winnipeg alt blues band The Perpetrators. He co-wrote/produced their sophomore album The Gas and the Clutch, which garnered a Juno Award nomination for best blues. In 2008, he put out his self produced debut solo album Wonderland Urgency, then later rereleased it as Year of Septembers in 2012. Scotty’s approach to music is like a patchwork quilt; it’s earthy and warm, with bright colours juxtaposed in rhythmic sequence. His songs are blues-y sleeper anthems, haunted with broken yet ethereal melodies. With one foot in his prairie roots, and one foot in Detroit soul, Scotty draws from city blues, old country/folk, and indie r n’ b, then exhales in a style that is a unique sum of them all. - “He’s played as a drummer for some of the country’s best young blues bands, but lately Scotty Hills has been working on his own thing. [...] Even though it’s barely hit the shelves, the album has caught the attention of the world’s largest independent music publisher, Ole Major Indie, who signed Hills to a deal and sent him to L.A. to write at the world famous Westlake Studios in Hollywood, where Hills collaborated with American Idol finalist Haley Reinhart and One Republic drummer Jerrod Bettis.”-Edmonton Journal - “Brims over with a funky, breezy, soulful charisma, and finds Scotty very impressively handling most of the instruments (and song writing) himself. Most strikingly though, it's the voice! Names like Sam Cooke, Ron Sexsmith, Stevie Wonder, Junior Parker, or even Feist may come to mind occasionally, but Scotty remains effortlessly original throughout.”
