As far as i can see, there are not many if any bands out there doing what were doing...Were bringing back the powerful and emotional experience that is, passionate live rock n roll music, feel-good catchy songs and the right attitude to go with it . . . You'd find it very, very hard to come to one of our gigs and not be stood in the audience with your heart pumping adrenaline and your smile straining your face . . . Carpe Diem (meaning 'Seize The Day' in Latin) are a four piece, unsigned rock band formed in February 2009 by Tom Eccles and Jonny Smale, who became a close knit songwriting partnership. They have progressed and gone on to write countless songs together and saw early success writing songs such as 'Summer Blues' and 'Growing Up'. Matthew Bradburn who was a friend of Tom and Jonny, joined the band as bassist and immediately clicked with the vibe. Simon Wolstencroft, former drummer of 'The Fall' 1986 - 1997 who also played and co-wrote with Ian Brown, joined the band after hearing a demo sent to him. Instinctively merging the seed of rock n roll with superbly catchy pop melodies and a focus on making you dance, Carpe Diem have the makings of a band with the power to cause a storm in this industry... There is a catalogue of equally and better quality tunes ready to be recorded and to be played at up and coming gigs... Carpe Diem have played a number of successful gigs around Manchester at places such as 'Manchester Academy 3'and 'The Roadhouse'. However, their biggest success so far has been supporting Ian Brown at sold out gigs at Leeds and Sheffield 02 Academies in December 2009. The band played in front of their biggest crowd yet, 2,500 Ian Brown fans each night. The set went down even better than expected and Carpe Diem recieved a good reaction during and after the two performances . . . the lads also spent the two nights partying with Ian Brown and his crew, but you don't want to hear about that, do you? ;) Following their gig at The Roadhouse, 19th December 2009, Carpe Diem recieved a very positive review on an entertainment website, www.ents24.com; "Carpe Diem hail from that rare school of decent songwriting... Couple this with superbly catchy songs and a reasonably tight musical control and you have the makings of a group capable of causing a storm on the underground scene." (www.ents24.com).
