Extended Bio: It's been a good year for Ana Miura. Voted Ottawa’s Best Singer/Songwriter for 2004-05 and first runner up to Kathleen Edwards in 2005-06, Ana's reputation as a rising star has extended deeply into her musical opportunities: She was chosen as a finalist for CBC's Galaxie Rising Stars event, and has shared the stage with Sarah Harmer, Jeremy Fisher, Teitur, Nathan Wiley, Fred Eaglesmith and Joel Kroeker. From living rooms to main stages, her smooth, melodic voice, fluid approach to guitar and on-stage banter warms the hearts of each audience she encounters. Performing at some of Canada’s best venues and festivals, including The Canadian Tulip Festival, the National Arts Centre 4th Stage, and The Ottawa Folk Festival, Ana's songs captivate with folky inflections of jazz, pop, and rock. Her debut EP Tenacious Heart is an intimate collection of Ana’s most personal songs. From the lively La Dee Da and playful Dragonfly, to the sultry Left of Centre and the longing of Follow me Back, the intensity of TransCanada and a melancholy He Swallows Whiskey, Ana draws delicate pictures of past relationships through melody. While Tenacious Heart garners airplay on a number of different campus and commercial radio stations in Canada and abroad, as well as at Madison Square Garden; Ana’s touring plans for 2006-2007 include the west coast of Canada, a second tour of eastern Canada, multiple tours of eastern USA, as well as the familiar eastern and southern Ontario.
