简介
"Blending the sounds of traditional folk music with elements of dark, neverland whimsy, Hannalee creates a unique music strange and familiar at once. Fidelia Rowe, Michael Harley & Anna-Lisa Notter sing in warm three-part harmony that wraps the ear like its favorite childhood blanket and sends it off to bed to dream enchanted dreams." After much anticipation, Seattle-based folk trio Hannalee is proud to announce the completion of it’s debut EP, Cucurbita, self-released on October 9th, 2012. Cucurbita will be followed by three other EP’s to be released in succession, one with each changing season, through the summer of 2013. Embracing the organic, earthy and stripped-down nature of its music, Hannalee has decided to present a collection of recordings (a projected 22-28 songs on four EP’s) released seasonally over the course of the year. “It’s admittedly ambitious for a debut,” says song-writer Michael Notter, “but we have the material and we’re really drawn toward the idea of tying each record to a season and its corresponding theme. If people are into it, they’ll have a whole lot from us to chew on this year.” Formed in 2010 by Michael Notter (Motopony, Shim, Shelby Earl) and Anna-Lisa Notter (Shelby Earl, Barton Carroll, Eric Miller) and later completed with the addition of childhood friend and vocal talent Fidelia Rowe, Hannalee has built a strong word-of-mouth reputation in Seattle having performed at the Triple Door, the Moore Theatre, the Fremont Abbey (BARE & the Round), the NW Folklife & Doe Bay Festivals, etc, and with the likes of Damien Jurado, John Roderick, Pickwick, John Russell (the Head and the Heart) and many more.. The band is noted for its lush 3-part harmony and its dark but hopeful, sometimes humorous lyric. Audiences are also intrigued by the ambiguous nature of the intra-band relationships (a promo shot last year of the band from the shoulders up, co-ed and seemingly unclothed by the sea, raised eyebrows and curiosities). Cucurbita, which is the genus of the common pumpkin, is Hannalee’s first ever publicly released recording.
