简介
Lo Carter is a southern belle hailing from Atlanta, GA that enjoys writing and singing about love-life experiences with a classic soul twist. A true blend of R&B and Soul, Lo Carter puts pen to pad and lets the words and melodies come from deep within. One listen and you can hear passion and soul that is meaningful and heartfelt. After humble beginnings in Atlanta, GA singing in the youth church choir at the age of four, Lo went on to study music in high school and college, playing the saxophone, trombone, and singing in the chorus. Lo's father made sure she was heavily versed in Motown/Stax records, reggae, jazz and gospel quartet music, while her brother helped to develop her ear for mainstream music, hip-hop, dancehall and R&B. Her own interest in alternative music, classic rock, dance and pop music rounded out her ear for "good feelin" tunes. Her destiny and future career were inevitable. Lo eventually moved to Nashville, TN to further her education and--unbeknownst to her initially--develop her musical talents. She would eventually gain studio experience collaborating lyrics and penning vocal arrangements for local artists while soaking her feet on the many stages of the "chit'lin circuit" doing cover gigs. Her experience and hard work has led to the realization of her greater purpose in sharing her music with the world! Lo has backed many independent artists: Damien Horne, Kevin Whalum, Darnell Levine, Wil Hogue and Brit Savage to name a few. Her fun loving personality and energy on stage eventually led to performances backing Marvin Sapp at the 2008 Stellar Awards, Alexander O'Neal with the Explosion Group, as well as Angela Winbush, Phil Perry, Howard Hewett, and Glenn Jones with the Joe Johnson band. She has performed throughout the southeastern and mid-west United States. She is a hard worker and that hard work is paying off. Lo Carter has opened for R&B/Soul sensation Anthony Hamilton and was nominated for the 2010 Nashville Independent Music Award for Best Female R&B Artist as well as the 2011 Nashville Independent Awards for Best R&B Female Artists and Best Female R&B Performance. Lo Carter continues to give back to the community by participating in charitable benefits throughout the community. She lends her vocal coaching skills to aspiring young adult singers via gospel music community workshops and private lessons, and she consistently works with The Village Church/ Village CDC, promoting and planning artistic community events. Lo Carter’s music moves people. It will move you too. Check out the music, come to a show, and see for yourself! "Lo Carter's retro-soul is insanely seductive." - Sean L. Maloney, Nashville Scene - Critic's Pick “It’s all Soul music. It’s just expressed in different ways...Whether they are dancing to the music or just meditating on the words, I want people to be moved when they hear my songs... music that motivates a positive response and encourages honest communication in relationships.” --Lo Carter
