This song, Across the Miles at Christmas, is one I wrote with those in mind who, for a lot of reasons, are far from home during the holidays. These days, as is true most holiday seasons, that includes so many of the dedicated men and women in our military services. I hope the song helps them and their families realize that love, whether at Christmas or any other time, is not bound by distance.

My influences: I've been influenced strongly by traditional and contemporary folk music, from Americana, Canadian and Celtic traditions. I'm drawn to lyrics that incorporate both story-telling and substantive messages, with occasional excursions into the purely rhythmic and even goofy. Yip Harburg, that great tin-pan alley composer (Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Brother Can You Spare a Dime?), once said “Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes you feel a thought.” I hope a few of my songs do that.
