简介
On Late Show With David Letterman, Felicia Collins played as a flexible hired gun: any song, any time with any guest. She immediately followed her own muse through blues and soul to a self-produced album titled Felicia Collins Discovers The Blues. Her blues explorations include remaking such chestnuts as C.C. Rider and Gatemouth Moore's "Somebody's Got To Go" as well as introducing such tradition-inspired originals as "Mr. Right Now", a throw-down showcase for her guitar skills which accompany extraordinary vocals. Hold on to your wigs and keys! Collins is in good company: Most of the tracks were recorded in Shreveport at Blade Studio with drummer Brady Blade, Tony Hall on bass and Ivan Neville on Piano and organ. Of course, her New Yorker bandmates have her back introducing a wonderful "Some Kind Of Wonderfu" with Will Lee, Anton Fig and SNL's Leon Pendarvis on piano and organ. The album features a live performance by the CBS Orchestra at the Late Show of Felicia's aunt Bee Bee Butler's song I Can't Stand Another Hurt. The cool nugget, Somebody's Got To Go has Bette Sussman on piano and Tom Malone on saxes. On harp, Mickey Raphael is swinging on a 'feel good' up-shuffle jam. Collins throws down the funk for the send-off track "Take You Outta Here", a collaboration with Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson.
