About this album and band: Industrial metal quartet Fragmenta today released their new album titled ODIMORSUS, a follow-up to their SEDITION album from 2011. The band secured a distribution deal with Legacy Records based in Dusseldorf Germany earlier in the year. The new album title comes from a portmanteau of the two Latin words for "hate" and "pain. Fragmenta has taken an arguably more experimental direction on ODIMORSUS. "This new album is a lot more emotional and intense than our first" describes vocalist and lead guitarist Duncan Fisher. Fisher handled all engineering and production duties while co-writing with bassist Steve Koutsouliotas for the majority of the songs. The years in between the two albums were difficult for the band involving several family deaths among other tragedies. "We all went through a lot of personal pain in the last few years which made for very genuine inspiration. The emotion in these songs is very raw and we all pushed each other to let it all out but that's where the most powerful stuff comes from" explains Fisher. However, the new album isn't all grinding guitars and bellowing vocals. "Some of the new songs are more melodic. There is a power ballad and more dynamic parts but the heavy elements are heavier than ever. I used some unusual guitar effects on a few different songs, some crazy industrial synth noise stuff and a balalaika which is this funky, three string Russian guitar." The band was described by controversial current affairs program Today Tonight as a "violent attack on the senses" who also noted their "dark themes" in 2011. Fragmenta will be performing shows locally and nationally to promote the album with two new members, featuring Loi Anderson previously from Nessun Dorma and Christian Pederson of Oceans Wake on second guitar. Fisher recently won a youth achievement award for contributions to the community signed by Mayor Rosenburg.
