简介

Though a passion for playing melodic/searing/ethereal guitar [via inspiration by his teacher of many years Rusty Anderson of Paul McCartney's band], David Bruce is immersed in the art of song writing...songs with addicting choruses and hooks that stick in your head long after you've played them. But David notes, "As in most songs and singles, hooks are designed to lure you into the song and the message it represents and the relative music is the journey through it". David Bruce and Funkestra's first album/collection of songs "Collide" explores the limitless boundaries song writers are given, via an iTunes generation, to mix music science with multiple styles that "switch it up" as you move from track to track. "Just Passing Through", a song inspired by Delta Blues with a Tom Petty feel, is an ode to the unsettled; the relentless travel across of a professional drifter through cities and life's situations. "I Don't Mind" is ethereal [with tonal signatures of Trent Reznor/NIN and old school hip hop] with a realistic look at pointless conversation. "You Make Me Weak" [think Sam Smith] portrays the inability to face reality and let go in general. Finally, "Believe" weaves through inspiration, motivation, and self-awakening and will be left to your interpretation. The musicianship is extraordinary and diverse on the tracks with all musicians residing from the Blue Grass state: Jason Groves- Bass and production, Tim Riggs- Vocals on many of the tracks, Chad Gravitt- Drums, Cristy Gravitt- Backing vocals, David Lee Hinkle- Keyboards, and Vince "V" Grino; who lends is drum and vocal talents to the final album track "Reach" and "Believe". David Bruce has long left his LA roots in which he worked with the like's of Rick Springfield's drummer Jack White and producer/engineer Magic Moreno [Eric Clapton's August album] but hasn't left much of LA behind him. If you don't believe it, listen to the track "Fade Away" which is a homage to the '80s new wave in LA; holding back no clichés of the time and genre.
