The evolution of Jazz in the American culture has included integrating and encompassing many styles of music. Now, Phoenix based saxophonist, John Amato has given us a high quality interpretation of Jazz fused with gospel. In "The Master's Peace," Amato combines superb instrumental talent (he plays alto, tenor, and soprano sax and flute on this recording) with excellent vocals and old standards with the contemporary strains of jazz.

Traditional gospel music lovers may find it difficult to recognize the old favorite, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." The new twist involves a beat that kicks and a crisp, clean vocal arrangement that is more reminiscent of Grover Washington's back up than a gospel choir. Also rooted in the traditional is "Blessed Assurance." This cut would fill any dance floor were the lyrics omitted. On a mellow tip, "Zion" and "Your Peace Is My Will," provide the perfect background for relaxation and reflection after a long, hard day.
