简介
Ashley Gatta, Denton based singer/songwriter, is releasing her first full-length album, “Where the Humble Go”. Ashley first stepped on the scene in 2007 with the release of her EP, Forget Subtlety. She went on to win TexasCSA’s song of the year in 2009 with her original song “Ain’t Nobody”. She has frequented the music scene as a solo artist and is now fronting her band “Ashley Gatta & The Free People”. She has built her fanbase through performances all over Texas, and has even reached out to fans in Nashville and Miami. She’s played at standard venues like Hailey’s, Prophet Bar, The Aardvark, and Tobacco Road, but also enjoys more intimate venues like local gospel concerts, coffee shops, homeless shelters, parties and fundraisers. She enjoys performing in settings where she can connect with the audience in a relational way. For years, people have told Ashley that she has a “unique” voice, but the best comparison that can be made is a cross between Norah Jones and Aretha Franklin. She calls her genre bending music “Organic Motown”. Being genuine is something Ashley strives for in her writing and in songs like “Mending Broken Hearts” and “No Sir” the raw honesty is palpable. She also strives to encourage other believers as they press on in their faith. Songs like “Homesick” have become an anthem for those that are weary and need to be reminded of better days to come. She also doesn’t hesitate to address social issues in her music such as “How Will They Love”, which addresses homelessness, and “A New Song” which encourages people to step outside of their comfort zone and befriend those that are different than themselves. Ashley sees music as a vehicle for communication regarding things that matter. When she’s not making music, she tries to live out the things she sings about. She resides in Southeast Denton in a low-income apartment complex where she embraces community and encourages it through monthly neighborhood parties at her home. She leads worship at her church, and also hosts a monthly songwriting circle at The Hydrant on the 2nd Monday of every month. The release of “Where the Humble Go” will be followed with a promotional tour. Ashley is partnering with Holt International, an international adoption agency, and hopes to bring attention and potential sponsors to the orphans overseas.
