Song of the Year.Song critique / songoftheyear.com - 07/14/2004 ____ "Long Living Death of the Dream"song critique Your lyrics are hypnotic and somberly powerful. The root meaning and inspiration of these lyrics are rather cryptic, but I think each listener will find his or her own meaning in them. The wording has powerful poetic appeal. Excellent job! Your music is huge and powerful on an almost anthemic scale. The powerful beat and strong, well-orchestrated chords make this song roll with thunderous emotion. The vocals are soft, yet bold enough to stand out in the music. Your melodies have a strong, haunting quality to them that bring sad and dark emotions to life. Wonderful composing! Your title is very potent and brings forth strong images in the listener's mind. Your arrangement and orchestration are absolutely superb! Once again, you have developed and produced a fine song! this song should have excellent marketability, both in Adult Contemporary and World music markets. The hauntingly mysterious sound of this song and the somber lyrics pull the listener in and make for a superb song to listen to! Song of the Year.Song critique / songoftheyear.com - 07/14/2004 __ Serge N - From Dream to Dream In the pop culture of today, where 70's songs are remade and the appropriate amount of bubble gum added, it's nice to hear a song that truly reminds me of the decade where we all lost our innocence. The song starts out with some simple music, and then some pure vocals start in. First off, I like the effects on the vocals, very dream like. And the harmonies in the chorus is really great! The shaker in the percussion is also a great treat too....adds a touch of authenticity. There is a touch of Floyd to this I think, without some of Floyd's darkness. This song would be good as part of a rock opera similar to JCS or The Wall, kind of an interlude of sorts. It is well produced and well written. It is 70's-ish, but to people who love to the 70's, it's a welcome breath of fresh air. Lana J. Albert - 05/11/2004 /Indiehangout.net __ My name is N, Serge N 'Long Living Death of the Dream' is the oxymoron providing the central hook in this orchestral rock song. Big strings, steady drums, dramatic guitar solos between the vocal passages and of course Serge's inimitable and charmingly accented singing style. There are vague John Barry flavours in this. It seems the orchestration has been done with the kind of russian stylings you might find in the Bond films that feature... errr... Russians. But more than anything you'll find it's deepy routed in 'The Moody Blues'. But, lets go back to Bond. This would suit the quiet bit in the film just before the apocalyptic ending. The bit where 007 finally gets his girl. It surely has all the necessary drama - LURVE just before the Armageddon. Take us round the world once more Serge, and mine's a vodka martini, shaken not stirred. Gustav Bertha - 07/30/2004 / RippingTracks __ "From Dream to Dream" - The ambassador's party Is Serge N the Russian equivalent of Julio Iglesias? Listen to this track and you'd not be completely mad to say so. Serge croons in an uninimitable fashion not without his tongue lodged firmly in cheek. It's nice that he chooses NOT to affect a singing accent in this - his own accent lends it a definite charm. It's smooth in the way that 70s soft rock was. Smoothly distorted guitars, synths on the cheesey side and anthemic choruses. If there's a video to this, it's got to have that evening soft focus directorial touch to match the sound. The track definitely has a floating feeling to it a bit like, well, a bit like dreaming actually... Gustav Bertha - 07/06/2004 / RippingTracks __
