简介
Fish Heads & Rices' third album, SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY finished the group’s stint with Milan’s Appaloosa Records. With the addition of Joe McMahan (guitar) and Jerry Dubeau (keyboards and vocals) for this record, the band added a distinct Louisiana feel to its sound. The group was even performing as Jo-El Sonnier’s backup band when they weren’t touring themselves. As with the Fish Heads' previous releases, CERTIFIED and 4HEADS (also available on CDBaby), the bulk of the songwriting was from within the group. They did add covers of Sam Cooke's "Chain Gang" and "Warm and Tender Love" from Percy Sledge to the mix, as well as recording another Russell Smith tune. Dennis Taylor also returns to round out the sound with his saxophone. After the release of “Fishy” the band signed a new record deal with EPIC/Sony and had the pleasure of recording at the world famous FAME studio in Muscle Shoals Alabama. Due to artistic differences and legal nightmares, the record for Sony was never released and the band went their separate ways. Many of the songs from that album can be heard on EISENHOWER HIGH and CLEAN GETAWAY (also available on CDBaby) released by the Fish Heads’ lead singer, David James, after the band split up.
