简介
"The first time I listened to a Gurdjieff/DeHartmann piece I was struck by the beautiful, intense, simple yet complex melody. Immediately I had the urge to study and learn it, no matter how long it would have taken. How did I know I had to? I didn't, but I trusted my body." So the Italian guitarist Fabio Mittino talks about his approach to Gurdjieff/DeHartmann music - a journey indeed, just like many before who have come in touch with the intriguing harmony of Gurdjieff's Work, he felt impelled to learn, to grow, to express, and to let go, trusting the body, trusting the process. This music as far as we know it has never been arranged for guitar and it is easy to understand why - possibly some of the most complicated harmonic progression that were originally written on piano, so Fabio had to work with open tunings and find guitar positions that are not conventional to classical guitar. Bert Lams describes the project in this way: "Fabio Mittino's beautiful guitar arrangements shine like diamonds. This fine collection of lovely pieces, originally written for piano, take on a new life in the hands and heart of Fabio". Fabio performed this pieces in one take, without the typical cut and paste that is used in modern day music, he occasionally over dubs on a second track the melody but all performances are untainted and reflect the true effort of the artist that doesn't stop at the challenge of performing live in the studio. Hats off to this musician that took time in his life to study, research and record this amazing music. If you are familiar with Gurdjieff-DeHartmann's music this will be an amazing discovery, if you are not then let Fabio take you by the hand to this wordless journey into this great master's work that who knows where it will lead you.
