The album is a compilation of Christmas songs, with one original song written specifically for the project entitled "Hope for The Homeless Heart" which also serves as the title of the album. Some of the vocalists and musicians of the Birmingham theatre community who have volunteered to give both their time and talents to this project include: Jan Hunter, Tam DeBolt, Carl Dean, Kristy White, Hannal Wilkerson, Lucas Pepke, Kimberly Piazza, Ashley Rainey, Don Everrett Garrett, Annie Joe Edwards, Michael King, Kevin Grigsby, Kristi Tingle Higginbotham and Brent Hutchens. Steve Pennington, the album's producer is a Birmingham vocal teacher, church pianist, and producer. He feels that the event and the music project will be a huge city-wide success. The Albums will be sold on the Firehouse Shelter's website, by local theatre companies, by mail to the contributors of the Firehouse Shelter, and also through the churches that support the Firehouse Ministry. The poet Leigh Hunt once wrote that " Music is the medicine of the breaking heart." The Firehouse Shelter ministers to broken hearts and shattered hopes every day, and through this project, it is the hope of Pennington that music will be the medicine that helps this organization in it's efforts to help the hurting and homeless.
