Karina Nistal needed a little help. So she turned to her fans to complete third solo album "KaRAGEous."

The bilingual, genre-hopping singer, who left Houston for Los Angeles in 2011, raised more than $8,000 via the Kickstarter crowd-sourcing platform to master, press and promote the album (including three music videos).

"I was extremely nervous about the Kickstarter campaign. I honestly didn't imagine the outpouring of support that I got," she says. "I realized I needed more of a budget for what I was trying to accomplish. It's encouraging to know artists like Spike Lee and Sean Astin are starting Kickstarter campaigns, too. We all have dreams that need to be funded."

"KaRAGEous" builds on the sound of Nistal's previous albums. Rock guitars and blocky beats crash against raspy vocals, horns and hip-hop, dubstep and drum 'n' bass.
