After completing construction of Lucky Dog Studios in September 2012, we started thinking about a good project to involve as many students and artists from Peggy Still School of Music as possible in working in the studio. Lead engineer Joe Kay said, "how about a holiday album?" We all loved the idea, then looked at the calendar and realized that we needed to run like we were being chased by mean elves with pointy candy canes to meet a holiday release deadline. The result is a fun and diverse collection of holiday standards performed by artists from every corner of the Peggy Still family. From a big booming cover of "Blue Christmas," complete with those iconic whooping backing vocals to great piano duo work on "March" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from The Nutcracker, from sacred ballads like "Ave Maria" and "O Holy Night" to juiced up contemporary classics with "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town," this album is sure to find a place in the regular rotation of songs you break out with the Christmas ornaments and the gingerbread.
