The A. E. Church of St. Thomas Gospel Choir is a one bodied, one spirit, Christ centered music ministry that spreads the gospel and edifies Jesus Christ through music. The St. Thomas Gospel Choir’s members currently consist of 58, spirit filled, energetic, and anointed musical ambassadors of song. With evangelism being a very important factor in the choir’s ministry, the St Thomas Gospel Choir shares their music ministry at over 100 services, programs, concerts and celebrations every year. Some of the choir’s ministry highlights include: STGC has performed with the Philly POPS Orchestra at the Kimmel Center for their annual Holiday POPS concert series for the past 10 years. Singing at the Philadelphia Constitution Center, the historic moving of the Liberty Bell to its new pavilion, the private unveiling of the original Emancipation Proclamation, State Rep. Louise Williams Bishop’s MLK Celebration, and performances with Play on Philly. The STGC was selected to take part in the stage play “The Events” held at the Annenberg Theater; was in the mass choir formed for “Gospel Music in the Park” at the Mann Music Center; sang the national anthem for the “Episcopal Church Night” for the Philadelphia Phillies; STGC was the featured choir for the National Episcopal Youth Event, held at Villanova University; the guest choir for the 40th Anniversary Celebration for the Ordination of Women. STGC has been featured on CBS 3 Talk Philly as well as ABC, Chosen 300 ministries, several nursing homes, schools, synagogues, weddings, funerals, festivals and celebrations of all kind are just a few of the local venues STGC have taken part in. Additional STGC Highlights: On October 3, 2013 STGC won 1st Place at the Northeast Regional competition for Verizon’s, “How Sweet the Sound” held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. STGC has had several performances at the Washington National Cathedral to include: the weekend celebration and installation of the 1st female Presiding Bishop for the Episcopal Church, the World Women’s International Summit and many other events over the years also held at the Washington National Cathedral where political leaders from all over the world participated. STGC has traveled for several ministry trips along the East Coast to include trips to: Orlando, Florida, Charleston, SC, Charlotte, NC and Miami, Florida. The choir has also traveled internationally to, San Jose and Limon in Costa Rica. These are just a few of the many places STGC have ministered at over the past years. August 2-6, 2014 the STGC traveled to New Orleans, LA to minister at the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NCGCC) for their annual Founders Day STGC Music Recordings: The music ministry of STGC has already reached thousands of thirsty souls and continues to reach many more. STGC released full music compilation CD’s in 2003, “Worship & Praise”, 2006, “The Anointing Makes the Difference” and their 3rd CD recording “Glorious Is Thy Name” released in 2009.
