简介
For anyone who knows Sally Barris, she is far from being a “wild” girl. You won’t hear any cheating, drinking, hard living songs on her new CD titled “Wilder Girl.” Her songs reveal a different kind of wild, one that is more subtle, bubbling underneath. 20 years ago, Barris moved from a small town in Minnesota to Nashville in pursuit of her songwriting dreams, but it is evident in songs like “Angel of the North” that she hasn’t forgotten where she came from. On the CD cover we see Barris walking by the water, in a place that could be Scotland or Ireland, but it is none other than Grand Marais, Minnesota which was the spark that inspired this new cd. The songs are insightful and poetic yet still contain the emotional edge of a “Wilder Girl” underneath. Opening song “Let the Wind Chase You” could be the softest, sweetest break-up song ever written, but you can still feel the twist of a knife. “You and I Could Never Be Friends,” does not mince words while stating “love me with everything that you can, or I never want to see your face again.” With the same intensity Barris is not afraid to open up and be vulnerable. Songs “Perfect Love” and “Standing Still” reveal her truer spiritual nature. Sally Barris and guitarist Steven Sheehan co-produced this project with minimal production to give fans an intimate “in your living room” listening experience. Leaning heavily on the acoustic guitar dynamics, they recorded the tracks together and then added splashes of color, leaving as much space possible for Sally’s vocals and lyrics to shine. Special guests include singer/songwriters Celeste Krenz, Dan Navarro, Ben Kyle, Dana Cooper and Brandon Sampson.
